My love for heavy music, chaotic imagery, and eye-catching, high contrast colour use, led me to create WASTELAND: A concept festival I one day hope to make a reality.
I first got the idea to create this poster when I created a logo and some album work for a made-up band I conceptualised called FACTORY. From there, I decided to flesh out not only FACTORY - with some albums and an alternate logo from the original design - but start to create a full festival revolving around these ‘concepts’ I had thought up. All bands, elements, and drawings are of my own creation (Aside from the images used for collages - sourced from Sites that offer free images) - any similarity to real life bands, people, or festivals are complete coincidence.
THE COLLAGE
I decided to create a collage that was monochromatic, with themes that I felt would be in line with the word 'Wasteland'.

THE BORDER
I decided to create a spiked border to go around the collage, I feel this ties into the 'chaotic' theme I was going for. I made the border symmetrical, so the final poster was balanced, and I placed the collage inside it so it was still the focal point and the attention wasn't taken away by the border. I drew the border

THE BANDS / LINEUP
Below are three bands I created as headliners for WASTELAND. I then made social media posts in instagram post format, that would be used to promote the festival online.

With every festival, a line-up is needed. I decided to do these line-ups in the format of instagram posts, to challenege myself to work with less 'Real Estate'. I also created a spotlight post for each of the band hedliners.
